An algorithm is a mathematical problem solving model that can be translated into a computer program. Privacy uses an algorithm every time it encrypts or decrypts. Privacy gives you a choice of which algorithm you use for its encryption/decryption engine:

Blowfish (1.0) A strong, fast, compact, and simple algorithm that supports key lengths of up to 448 bits.

Blowfish (2.0) A modification of Blowfish (1.0).

We recommend you use this algorithm.

DES (Data Encryption Standard) An international government standard algorithm with 56-bit encryption.
